Absolutely gorgeous 7 piece set of an authentic folk traditional costume which includes:
2 large square floral roses shawls with fringe: 1 green, 1 black (Made in Portugal)
1 white cotton blouse with blue embroidered flowers (handmade)
1 black and green wool vest with embroidered flowers (handmade)
1 green and blue striped woven wool skirt with black wool at the hem that is embroidered and trimmed with sequin accents (handmade)
1 green woven wool apron with a “popcorn” embroidery design in bright pink, blue, yellow and white (Handmade)
1 green wool embroidered waistlet pouch. I don’t now the name of this piece:-) (handmade)
Everything is in such beautiful condition. Can be worn together for a folk event, or separately with other clothing. So many details!
The vest / corset has a drawstring bodice that creates fullness at the top and there are 3 embroidered holes, I am guessing for a tie or ribbon so that it can be cinched like a corset.
The skirt and the apron are sewn at the hip line into an “accordion” design. So pretty!
The skirt ties closed at the waist though it is pinned closed on the mannequin.
The apron and the matching pouch tie at the waist.
The fantastic and super attractive cotton peasant top is long sleeved with hand embroidery and hand smocking. It has a snap closure at the neck, drop shoulders that are embroidered and smocked. There is embroidery on the bodice and on the cuff of the sleeves along with some smocking on the cuffs.
I am guessing this is a medium because of the size of this a mannequin. I will be measuring and posting measurements momentarily.
This is a gorgeous set. I honestly do not know for sure if it is Ukranian, Polish, Czechoslovakian, Slovak, or from another country. I know that it has timeless beauty, and incredible artistic design and embroidery. Beautiful colors!
