This is the "bass" version but I used it on electric and acoustic guitars primarily. There is no difference in tone only in features. The bass version combines the attack and release on a single knob so you can get the typical 1176 settings really quickly. Dial in the ever popular slow attack/ fast release setting with one knob as it's set up perfectly for that, so it's great for guitar and bass. I liked this better than the guitar version due to its simplicity and the flexibility to not affect the low end of detuned, baritone and/ or bass guitars with the extra side chain knob that this bass version offers. The bass version is more flexible and faster to set up in the studio and on stage whether playing bass or guitar.
The Cali76 Compact Bass is an 1176-style studio-grade FET compressor, complete with dedicated controls for parallel compression and side-chain filtering.
Origin Effects took everything that was great about the original Cali76, added new features optimised for bass and compressed the whole lot down into a pedalboard-friendly package!

The Dry Blend control lets you mix your dry signal back in with your compressed signal for true parallel compression, an indispensable studio recording technique.
The Cali76 Compact Bass also allows you to rein in the amount of compression applied to the lowest frequencies via a variable-frequency high-pass filter placed in the compressor’s side-chain.
Meanwhile, the elegant jewel lamp functions as a three-colour gain reduction meter, providing vital and intuitive feedback to the player.
