Here’s a wonderful Vernon Kilns plate of my Alma Mater—
the University of Kansas!
Generally referred to as “KU”, this plate shows several major sites on the campus, including the Campanile, Hoch Auditorium, and famous Fraser Hall, which can be seen for miles around. The rim is decorated with Sunflowers (the state flower of Kansas) and the mythical Jayhawk, the KU mascot.
This plate is made on the Ultra shape, and glazed in maroon. It measures 10 3/8” in diameter. The backstamp gives a brief history of KU, and includes the Vernon Kilns trademark. This plate was made exclusively for the University of Kansas Alumni Association around 1951.
Condition is pristine, even mint! No sign of use or wear, and no damage at all.
